About Us/Privacy Policy

PRIVACY POLICY Stratusphere understands the privacy concerns of users to the Stratusphere web site. In accordance with the standard operation of the Stratusphere Internet servers, IP addresses, domain names, region, and browser info are recorded and logged. Stratusphere retains this information in order to better serve the users of the Stratusphere site & for security reasons. E-mail addresses are not part of the data recorded. Hence, e-mail addresses, names, and such are only made available to Stratusphere when voluntarily submitted. Stratusphere uses third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. Each ad company offers it's own explanation of this information and may also offer a method in which to "opt-out" of these types of ads - usually there is a company link in the ad to take you to that company's site. Stratusphere will send out periodical information to visitors who have voluntarily submitted their e-mail addresses. Any visitor who does not wish to continue receiving these updates may discontinue receipt of such information per instructions on the e-mail. Personally identifiable information that may be collected as a result of visitors voluntarily submitted filled entry forms or registration forms is retained by Stratusphere for the sole purpose of improving internal business and marketing structures. Stratusphere will not share this personally identifiable information with third parties nor with unaffiliated entities without the express consent of the visitor. ABOUT STRATUSPHERE Stratusphere is NOT just for folks that "mod" or "enhance" their cars. We not only offer something for the "tuner" crowd, but we hope to offer something for the "stock" car owner that is simply looking to keep their car running well and is seeking out the advice from folks that own the same car. Do not let "I'm just stock" prevent you from participating online or at "live" events. (If it helps, you can note that the webmaster's car is 95% stock.) Although we welcome all the owners and enthusiasts of the "Cloud Cars", our focus is (admittedly) primarily on the sedans. The convertible shares much of its hardware with the sedans, so we cover that, too. The coupes, however, are a different type of car entirely - and you'll find that the support here on Stratusphere is probably a bit lacking. It's improving, and we would like to mention that our friends at ASOG.net, ASEClub.net, and 2GStratus.org all offer great support on the Stratus and Sebring coupes. The majority of our members own first-generation (1G) cars - meaning those produced between 1995 and 2000. A few of us now have second generation (2G) cars - those produced from 2001 to 2006 - and again, our information is less than what we want it to be. This is another area of growth for us, and we also note that our friends at 2GSS.org support the 2G (sedan and vert) models as well. We also support the new "JS" (3G) Avenger and Sebring sedans and convertible, as well as the "JC" Dodge Journey crossover vehicle. Stratusphere has existed, in one form or another, since 1998. A good core of our original members are still here (something that is actually quite rare in the realm of "car enthusiast groups.") As you visit here, you will learn who those members are and perhaps come to value and trust the information they provide. Do not be afraid to ask a question. Yes, chances are we've probably answered it a thousand times. But to you, it's a valid question. We strive to provide ALL our members - new and old - with valid answers. Anyone can tell you "do a search" or "check the FAQ." We like to take the time and actually answer your questions. Stratusphere members often hold "meets" - informal or well-planned get-togethers with members of our own group, and with members of other groups as well. Each year there are several large-scale meets, as well as many local-level or regional meets - be sure to check the forums and calendars for more information. Stratusphere, unlike many other auto enthusiast groups, strives to be family-oriented. We take a hard stance on words, links, and images that are not family-acceptable. There are a million places on the World Wide Web to post, read, or obtain inappropriate material; Stratusphere is not one of them. Also, since we've been in existance for a long time, there is a "family" atmosphere that we enjoy, encourage, and protect. Of course, at times, even the best of friends or family members can and will argue. Sometimes a misunderstanding can be averted by the use of the various "smilies" or "emoticons" in your post. We try to minimize this fallout as much as possible by offering foul word filters, moderators that can restore order as needed, and an off-topic forum for folks to use to vent their frustrations. Do not be afraid to use the "Report" function if you see or read something you feel is wrong. We will work hard to investigate and resolve the issue. Stratusphere, like most car websites, will offer "how-to's" and methods to fix, repair, or enhance your car. Please read these carefully, and if you choose to implement them, understand Stratusphere cannot be held responsible for any damages or injuries that may occur when doing them. Automobiles can be dangerous to work on, and tools may be dangerous to operate. When in doubt, always seek the advice or assistance of a trusted auto repair shop or mechanic. To those that came here looking to cause trouble, we respectfully ask that you reconsider those plans. Stratusphere does not tolerate "trolling". If you wish to ask a valid question, or offer a constructive option, we welcome it. But if all you came here to do is insult us, you can save your efforts for someplace else. We give respect, and we expect respect in return. We have a number of folks that volunteer their time and effort for make Stratusphere what it is. We ask that you respect these folks for what they do, as they only do it for the satisfaction they get by helping you and others. Stratusphere is a "public" forum in that it is accessible by just about anyone. There are no fees charged (although we gladly accept donations, and there are subscriptions available that provide additional services), and because of that we feel that those that participate here should not have a problem in following our rules and guidelines - which apply to ALL areas of the site, including the "public" forums, any "private" forums, e-mails sent via this forum, and the Personal Messaging system (note that it's PERSONAL, and not PRIVATE.) We are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this site or forum or Stratusphere. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email, private message, or by using the "Report" function. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum, or the proper copyright notice is displayed with the material. You agree not to post copyrighted material without written permission for re-use, please contact the webmaster for more information. You agree that Stratusphere, its staff, and any volunteer moderators of the Stratusphere forums cannot be held liable for any information posted on the Stratusphere forums; for any offensive, derogatory, insulting, misleading, fraudulent, libel-containing, or defamatory postings; consequences of following advice posted to any forum or topic; damage to your reputation, finances, or other aspects of your life and work from spoofing (other people posting in your name, nickname, or handle); or for deletion or modification of your messages, member title, or other information. This, of course, not not give the staff members the right to post offensive, derogatory, insulting, misleading, fraudulent, libel-containing, or defamatory comments themselves. Should you encounter a problem with a Stratusphere staff member, you should report the problem to the Webmaster for review. You agree to hold Stratusphere and its staff and volunteers blameless for any unauthorized e-mail or use of your personal and e-mail information resulting from any breach of security which allows unauthorized people to access your e-mail account. Any posted material may be used indefinitely and without restriction, compensation, or liability by Stratusphere in their static (nonchanging) pages without additional permission or compensation. In addition, you agree that the Stratusphere staff and volunteers may remove or modify posting and/or viewing privileges at any time at their sole discretion, and may remove or edit posted messages at any time at their sole discretion. Individuals are responsible for the content contained in their posts, avatars, and signatures. We do not condone the use of avatars, member titles, and signatures to display material which takes 'potshots' at another member or the forum itself, is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, libelous, or otherwise violative of any law. Profanity filters are in effect. Attempts to 'bypass' the filters by using 'creative spelling' and/or symbols are not allowed. Let the filters do their job. Better yet, don't swear. SIGNATURES AND AVATARS ON THE FORUMS Since your signature appears on EVERY post, we ask that you not load it with information that already appears or is available for others to see on another page. Signatures that become too large or wordy take away from the actual post itself and generally get ignored. We ask that your signatures consist of either up to 4 lines of text (blank lines count), one image (468x60 - standard banner size) and 1 line of text, or one image (468x80 max total size) with no additional text. "Userbar" (350x19) images are also popular; we ask that you limit them to a maximum of 8 (eight) userbars in a "2 wide x 4 high" layout. If you use "userbar" images - do not exceed 4 of them in height. Signatures (and other user profile fields including avatars) may not contain information that is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, or libelous towards any other member or the site itself. This includes "hiding" an offensive remark in an image URL. When composing a signature or post, DO NOT ABUSE THE COLOR OR SIZE TAGS! If a member, moderator or admin notices that your signature fails to comply with our Terms Of Service, you will be notified and given time to fix it. (if the case of vulgar, offensive, or obscene material, we reserve the right to remove the material immediately without warning.) If after 3 days your signature is not fixed, it may be removed at the admin/moderators' discretion. If you have a problem with a moderator and admin decision, please bring it up to the webmaster. Maximum avatar size is 120x80 pixels. Animated GIFs and small Flash movies are also allowed, provided they meet the size restrictions. If your avatar's image size is too large - even though it's resized, a browser still has to wait for a full-size image to load. An admin or moderator may choose to remove your avatar for this reason. Keep your avatars clean - G or PG-rated, please. If someone complains about your avatar, we may remove it after review. Failure to follow these rules and guidelines can result in warnings, suspensions, and in some cases outright banning and removal of your account. Thank you for your cooperation.
